AI Content Policy
The Bulletin of Humanities and Social Sciences (BHSS) follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and international best practices regarding the responsible and transparent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly publishing.
AI technologies may be used only as supportive tools in manuscript preparation and must not replace human authorship, scholarly judgment, intellectual contribution, or ethical responsibility.
Authorship and Accountability
AI tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
Only individuals who meet the journal’s authorship criteria may be credited as authors.
Authors remain fully responsible for:
-
The accuracy of the content
-
The originality of the work
-
The integrity of data and analysis
-
Proper citation and attribution
-
Compliance with ethical and publication standards
This responsibility applies to all content, including material generated or assisted by AI tools.
Permissible Use
AI tools may be used for limited supportive purposes, such as:
-
Language editing and grammar correction
-
Improving clarity, structure, and readability
-
Formatting assistance
-
Summarizing non-confidential background information
-
Supporting reference organization
The use of AI must not alter the scholarly meaning, analytical interpretation, or conclusions of the research.
Prohibited Use
AI tools must not be used to:
-
Generate original research data, survey responses, interviews, or fieldwork results
-
Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data, citations, or sources
-
Produce entire manuscripts without substantial human intellectual contribution
-
Replace critical theoretical interpretation or scholarly analysis
-
Create fake references or non-existent sources
Improper or undisclosed use of AI tools may constitute research misconduct.
Disclosure Requirement
Authors must transparently disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript.
A disclosure statement should specify:
-
The name of the AI tool used
-
The purpose for which it was used
-
Confirmation that authors reviewed and verified the output
Failure to disclose material AI use may result in:
-
Rejection of the manuscript
-
Publication of a correction
-
Retraction of a published article
Editorial and Reviewer Use
Editors and reviewers may use AI tools for limited technical support, such as:
-
Language checks
-
Similarity screening
-
Organizational assistance
However:
-
Editorial decisions and peer review evaluations are made exclusively by qualified human experts
-
Confidential manuscript content must not be uploaded to non-secure or public AI platforms
The confidentiality of submitted manuscripts must be strictly maintained at all times.
BHSS is committed to promoting responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI technologies while preserving the integrity and credibility of scholarly publishing.
